How to Manage Arthritis: 5 Tips to Reduce Symptoms

Massage therapy can also help manage arthritis in wrists or hands. A study conducted showed that during four weekly massage sessions, participants showed a significant reduction in pain as well.

Tip #3: Acupuncture Therapy

While acupuncture therapy may not seem notable, reputable organizations, like the World Health Organization (WHO) support this form of therapy. Whether acute or chronic, acupuncture is effective in the treatment of pain. Tip #4: Exercising and Managing Weight

Stretching and exercising can strengthen your muscles, preserve and increase joint range of motion, decrease stress and strain on joints, and improve sleep quality. Depending on your situation, losing or managing weight can also alleviate the pressure put on joints.

Tip #5: Rest and Relaxation

One of the best ways to manage arthritis pain is to listen to your body’s needs and wants. A regular sleeping pattern can help you avoid the feelings of fatigue that can worsen arthritis pain. If you or your loved one struggle to fall asleep due to arthritis pain, try building a nightly routine. Taking a warm shower, self-massaging the affected joints, avoiding caffeine, and maintaining a quiet, cool, and dark room may help develop better sleeping habits.
